![]() Click photo to view photo album Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria. The train station and its surrounding area are not so impressive, when we got off the train from Burcharest, we didn't like the area. As we walked towards town, the impression changed. Sofia is nice, relax city. We stayed a guest house called the Rooms which is quite nice and very affordable. |

Plovdiv is the second largest city of Bulgaria, very safe and easy to go around. We like walking through the city centre, The Roman Ancient Theatre, and a few museums,. There is a monastry nearby which is the second largest in the country, called Bachkovo. It is actually quite small by international standard but a very good way to spend a morning, it is about 40 mins from Plovdiv central bus station, do go behind the monastry and up the hill to get a much much much better view (tourists usually miss this and get back to the bus straight away, pity!).
